Inspection, repair and replacement — front, side and rear glass
What each job involves, how the decision is made, and what changes the quote.
01 · Repair
Windscreen repair
Chips and short cracks are repaired by cleaning the damage, injecting a resin matched to the glass, curing it and finishing the surface so it stops spreading and the mark is less visible.
- Damage type: bullseye, star, combination or a short crack
- Size and depth measured before any decision
- Position checked against the driver’s viewing area
- Contamination checked — dirt or water in the damage can rule repair out
02 · Replacement
Windscreen and window replacement
When the glass cannot be repaired, it is replaced with a part matched to your vehicle. The old adhesive is cut out, the aperture is cleaned and primed, and the new glass is bonded and refitted with the trims and seals back in place.

- Trims, seals and mouldings refitted, not left loose
- Where the vehicle has driver-assistance cameras behind the glass, we tell you at quote stage whether anything else needs checking
03 · Criteria
Repair or replace: how we decide
The rule is not commercial — it is what keeps the glass sound. These are the points we check, and the ones you can check yourself before you call.
- Repair: small chip or short crack, away from the driver’s primary view, no contamination, no edge contact.
- Replace: crack longer than a repair allows, damage at the edge of the screen, damage in the driver’s line of sight, or a repair that has already failed.
- Inspect soon: a chip that has not spread but sits where wipers pass, or where temperature change will work on it.
04 · Fleets
Vans, fleets and commercial vehicles
Commercial glass goes down for the same reasons as private cars, but the cost of the vehicle being off the road is different. Fleet work is quoted per vehicle and per part, with the sequence agreed so vehicles are not stood down at the same time.

We quote per job. These are the things that move the number, so you can see why two vehicles with the same damage can differ.
Vehicle and glass part
Make, model, year and which pane — a windscreen with a rain sensor is not the same part as a plain one.
Repair or replacement
Repair is a smaller job than replacement; the assessment decides which one applies.
Location and timing
Where the vehicle is and how soon the work is needed both affect what can be arranged.
